Well appointed small to medium sized rooms. A couple of English language TV channels, tea, coffee & kettle, free drinking water, safe (big enough for a laptop, tablet, camera, money, passports etc!), small desk, hairdryer and fridge.

Moderately reliable and fast internet – we were on the top floor and although the internet connection could have been better it still wasn’t that bad. WiFi signal strength does vary floor to floor and room to room.

Breakfast was buffet style, extensive and very good. For the small increase in day rate I would strongly recommend the room rate with included breakfast.

Ideally located for shops, train and monorail station.

Highly Recommended.

Located in KL airport (KLIA2) and takes about ten minutes to walk to. Ask someone how to get there as the signage is very poor and only appears when you are almost there.

Our room was small but adequate. Room and hotel facilities minimal – two or three English language channels on the tv, a/c, hot water, nice shower and bathroom, clean, soap, shampoo, towels. Free wifi for up to two devices – reliable and quite to very fast.

Small cafe/sandwich shop with a small 7-11 next door.

Did the job. Recommended.

Very nice gardens and ponds, clean and well maintained but very small rooms and units are very close to each other. We had a top floor room with a/c and at the top of the site – probably one of the better rooms and locations. Other rooms on the ground floor don’t appear to have a/c (and have a smaller balcony but have a tiny back yard/garden) and those nearer the road get a lot of noise from a building site/wood yard next door.

There can also be a lot of noise from the room above if you are on the ground floor and next door neighbours if you are on any floor.

The other disappointment with TStar is the way they charge for everything – toilet rolls, extra blanket, room cleaning, fresh towels, they have a little shop that sells pot noodles and that even charges you GBP0.5 for the hot water.

They also charge for a mini-fridge (GBP1/day) – don’t have a problem with this but when we asked they had run out (Bought a cool box and spent GBP0.5/day on ice – probably worked out the same price and we had warmer beer but it took up less space in the room).

TStar has free internet but it was very very slow or didn’t work at all for most of our stay – best go to Cactus Restaurant (almost next door) for good food and slightly more reliable wifi.

There is no hot water in the bathroom and there are lots of gaps in the bedroom and bathroom that could let insects in – although we used a chemical spray an hour or two before bedtime we did get bitten.

Probably one of the cheaper options on Langkawi but cannot bring myself to recommend it.
